Loft Boarding & Loft Ladders in Rugby

Extend your storage where it will be most useful

QUICK LOFT BOARDING QUOTE

If a small patch of loft boarding no longer holds what your household needs, the next step does not have to be flooring the entire roof. An assessed extension or a better-positioned platform may give you the extra usable space.
Joe Day Loft Control installs raised loft boarding and loft ladders in Rugby, with coverage including Bilton, Hillmorton and Cawston. We also welcome enquiries from Birdingbury and nearby villages.
We look at the existing deck, the roof structure and the access route before recommending where the new storage should go.

Make an extension work with the original deck

Existing boarding needs checking before it becomes the starting point for a larger system. Its support, condition and height may differ from what the new installation requires.

We assess whether it can be retained, adapted or should be replaced. Where levels differ, the transition needs careful planning; simply adding boards alongside an unsuitable platform can carry its problems into the new work.

Layouts for lofts with roof trusses

Braces can limit the width of an uninterrupted storage deck. A central section or several sensibly connected areas may be more practical than trying to reach every edge.

The boarding is planned around the roof, with structural members left intact. Supports, intended loading and access to services all matter. The amount of floor area quoted should reflect usable storage rather than the total roof footprint alone.

Allow for insulation before choosing the height

A raised platform needs room for the existing or proposed insulation and the clearance required by the system. Increasing the height can affect usable headroom, so we consider both together.

If your insulation needs attention first, see our Rugby insulation page. Completing both elements in a coordinated project can avoid lifting a new deck shortly afterwards.

Make regular access easier

A loft ladder can be included with a new platform or extension. We check the hatch dimensions, ceiling height and space below for opening the ladder, as well as the step-off area above.

The intended use remains household storage and access. Boarding does not turn the loft into a room or make the structure suitable for unlimited weight.

Rugby boarding questions

Potentially. We first need to identify its construction and condition and assess how an extension can be supported appropriately.

Only where there is suitable structure, clearance and access. The layout is based on the roof assessment rather than a promise to cover every available gap.

Yes. Tell us which elements you want so the proposed work and options can be distinguished clearly.
